Well it wasn’t easy, but after tracking down the sisters armed only with cameras and determination, we managed to get almost everyone’s fave thing on record…for those of you who missed out, there’s always next year!! (NOT likely says RS President Denise Dunlop…we will never do that again!)

A great meal from around the world was provided by our very multi cultural ward sisters. If you missed the magic Sis Rajah curry, you will never know how close the meal came to perfection! Certainly the large array of dishes became a favorite thing for a few of us. I know Sister Samuels, (visiting from Sydney) certainly thought the Aussie Pavlova was worth a second and  a third helping!

After a great rewrite of “My Favorite Things” Relief Society Style, we had a suprise visit from Helga Holder, a leather clad grat aunt of Tina Holder, who proceeded to insult everyone whilst looking through all the photographs…but all in good fun! Hilarity was had by all.

Finally Sister Lekias, the Stake Presidents wife, was our final speaker and reminded us all of the great legacy of Relief Society and it’s 167th birthday…celebrated by cupcake magnets as a handout!

If you have a minute, check out these photos of a few of the sisters with their fave things….ENJOY!

Go Julie, Go

Go Julie, Go

Raindrops on Roses and all that stuff…Please prepare yourself for a lovely evening of getting to know the sisters in our ward a little better. Partly in celebration of the Relief Society Birthday and partly because our ward is growing so rapidly, we want to take some time out from a busy schedule to share some food from all over the world (provided by our multi cultural ward sisters) as well as find out what it is that makes you happy….what is your favorite thing???

NO CHEATING, we don’t expect you to tell us about your kids, your spouse, or someone else’s favorite things…think about it. How often do you find yourself indulging in your favorite thing, and what would you class as your favorite thing? We want a photo of you and your favorite thing…either send it to me, or make sure you catch up with one of the Enrichment Team and they will take the photo for you…PAPARAZZI, enrichment style, no one escapes.

The night is on Thursday March 19th at 7.30 pm at the Chapel and we look forward to seeing you all there…as for me? Camera, Lights, Action…hmmmnnn, I think my fave thing is sleeping right now, or maybe a good book and some time to read it, or maybe a lovely slice of lemon tart, which brings me to a great exercise class….no, never that as my favorite. Travelling? Cooking? Writing? Blogging? Enrichment? Going to have to think about this one!

Well {sigh} I had to come home and as much as I have tried to remember every detail, they are fading memories already. I actually need a week in Bali to get over my holiday, but Hamish just wasn’t amenable to that idea!

Just a quick note to let you know we are back on deck for Enrichment Night and Activities. Preparations are well in hand for ‘SUPER SATURDAY’….an extravaganza of Christmas gift ideas that you can make on the day. Stay tuned for further details and costs.

And don’t forget that next Saturday morning the 16th August at 8.30 AM is the Relief Society Breakfast. Come along and enjoy some breakfast you didn’t cook yourself! Also some guest speakers will be in attendance and plenty of good company. And remember; latecomers will miss out on the maple syrup!

I am guessing that Sister Cameron (no longer Carol) won’t mind me pasting this copy of an email she sent out to Sister Renton…(still Marlene!!)

Hi Marlene, would you please kind enough to send this to all the sisters
in our ward to announce I received my mission call today, 25th June,
2008, to the Australian Brisbane Mission beginning in the Mission Office
to become effective Friday 29th August 2008.  My eldest son Adam also
served in this mission so looks like the continuation of a family
tradition, cheers, Carol

We are excited for you Carol…woops Sister Cameron!

FYI, I am in the States and tired out of my brain and what’s more HOT…it’s lovely and warm here and I know you little Perth coldies won’t want to hear about it, but I am off water skiing today on a lovely lake here in Seattle…who thought Seattle would be hot??? Not me. Missing you already….(OK I’m not, but what did you want me to say???)

I also had an interesting email about this site from a LDS news website. Please find below a portion of the email which I found very pertinent. Please visit them on; http://www.ldsnewssource.com

I am with LDS News Source, we are a company that has just launched an online news portal for the members of the LDS Church. As of this message our site searches over 5000 newspapers worldwide every hour on the hour and compiles any and all articles that pertain to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints into one place. Our goal in building this was to create a place where members and non-members alike can go and find out what is happening with the church and its members world wide. It is also our answer to Elder M. Russell Ballard’s speech at the BYU Hawaii Commencement Exercises last year where he said:

“may I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple, clear terms the message of the Restoration. Most of you already know that if you have access to the Internet you can start a blog in minutes and begin sharing what you know to be true. You can download videos from Church and other appropriate sites, including Newsroom at LDS.org, and send them to your friends. You can write to media sites on the Internet that report on the Church, and voice your views as to the accuracy of the reports. This, of course, requires that you, all members of the Church, understand the basic, fundamental principles of the gospel.

We are living in a world saturated with all kinds of voices. Perhaps now, more than ever, we have a major responsibility as Latter-day Saints to define ourselves, instead of letting others define us. Far too many people have a poor understanding of the Church because most of the information they hear about us is from news media reports that are often driven by controversies. Too much attention to controversy has a negative impact on peoples’ perceptions of what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is. ”

I’ll keep you posted…have a great week.

FYI, I thought you would all be interested in the end results of our individual donations! How amazing and wonderful that we can be a part of this with such a small individual effort!

Whilst on the topic of food and storing it, I found an interesting quote yesterday (as I wallowed in my flu at home as you guys all sat in church!! hahaha)

Deb at work!Sarah tries to keep up with the kids!WOW, see Pam blog. Look children, Pam can blog!

Wow what a bunch of professional bloggers we now have in Warwick Ward. I am hoping we can have  their links on this site so we can all check out what everyone else is up to! A great fun way to keep in touch…(is Visiting Teaching via blog permitted do you think???) Denise willingly submitted heart and home to more kids than bloggers this morning, but fun was had by all, despite being technically challenged! So stay tuned for more links on this page to everyone’s creative offerings….and hey girls, don’t forget your passwords!

Just a quick note on Cansolidator . They are widely available on the web, thus the link, and although relatively expensive, they are a one time purchase.
Something similar is at Howard’s Storage, but it only holds 10 cans and retails for $14.95. I spoke to the owner and she will give a bulk discount, but we would need to order more than 20 as a group which would give us a 10% discount and then the discount would increase every additional 5 ordered…in one hit!
So Bev, maybe that’s an idea for us in the future!

Grocery Bag
Well sisters, in my zeal after so much good publicity, I thought I should add a few more entries to this blog! (I now have to live up to expectations…so hard! But thanks for all the good feedback!) Anyway, I thought I would try and write a few articles about what affects us all, and first cab off the rank is grocery prices. Did you know you can go on-line to an interactive catalogue for the Woolworth’s store closest to you?

IGA have one too.

Please rest assured I have no shares in either of these companies, (unfortunately!) but for those of you who like to shop the specials for storage purposes, these links are a great way to check out what’s on sale, where, without the use of any fuel! (Except coal fired power generators, but we won’t go there!!)

Of course we have all heard the same old adages, usually from our mothers, about not shopping when hungry, and don’t forget that to have kids with you at the checkout is wallet suicide…(leave them home with grandma), buy the specials, have an actual list and don’t deviate from it and last but not least, check out

before you make any big purchases! (Often they have grocery articles as well as all the big ticket electronic heads up!)
And remember, before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you criticize them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.
